Hecate’s Flame — Ember Shade Candle

Earthy • Herbal • Smoky

Follow the glow of a lantern through dark woods, where evergreen branches, aromatic herbs, and lingering smoke fill the evening air.

Hecate’s Flame blends bright bergamot with fresh spruce and cypress, layered with herbal sage and warm palo santo. Earthy patchouli, dark musk, and smoke create a deep, lasting foundation—a fragrance with woodland freshness, quiet warmth, and a mysterious edge.

Poured in black wax, Hecate’s Flame brings torchlight and crossroads imagery into a personal ritual of reflection, boundaries, and new beginnings.

The Ritual: Light at the Crossroads

Grounding • Protection • Clarity • Transformation

Hecate’s Flame is an invitation to pause when life asks you to choose a direction. Give yourself space to reflect on where you have been, what you want to carry forward, and what you are ready to leave behind.

For this ritual, let spruce and cypress symbolize resilience, sage and smoke represent release, and palo santo and patchouli bring to mind steady roots. Bergamot can symbolize a fresh perspective, while the lantern on the label serves as a reminder to focus on the next step you can see.

Place your candle on a level, heat-resistant surface. Take three slow breaths and choose an intention—honoring a boundary, welcoming change, finding direction, or making time to hear your own thoughts.

Light the candle and say:

“At this crossroads, I pause.
I honor the path that brought me here.
I release what I am ready to leave.
By torch and key, with clear intention,
I choose the next step as my own.”

Spend a few quiet moments with your journal. Ask yourself: What deserves my attention? What boundary would support me? What is one step I feel ready to take?

Choose something manageable. You might make a decision you have been postponing, protect an evening for rest, or write down what you need before agreeing to another commitment.

Use this ritual during a personal transition, at the beginning of a new chapter, during evening reflection, or whenever you want to approach a choice with greater intention.

Approximate burn times depend on proper candle care. Keep your wood wick trimmed before every burn to encourage an even, consistent burn. Wick maintenance, burn length, drafts, and room conditions can affect how quickly your candle uses wax.

Wood Wick Care & Candle Safety

Before lighting, make sure the wax is cool and firm. Trim the wood wick to approximately ⅛–¼ inch, removing loose charred pieces and keeping the wax free of debris. For candles with multiple wicks, trim and light every wick.

Hold the lighter at the base of the wood wick until it catches. During the first burn, allow the melt pool to spread toward the edges, without exceeding four hours.

Burn for 2–4 hours at a time, on a level, heat-resistant surface away from drafts. Let the candle cool completely before trimming, moving, or relighting.

Stop using the candle when approximately ½ inch of wax remains.

Never leave a burning candle unattended or burn while sleeping. Keep away from children, pets, curtains, and anything flammable. Do not touch or move a hot vessel, add water or other materials to the wax, or use the lid to extinguish the flame. Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes unusually high or produces persistent smoke.

How to Use the Ritual Melt

Remove the cap and squeeze a small amount into a warmer dish designed for wax melts. Start small and stay within your warmer’s capacity. Replace the pouch cap after use and follow the warmer manufacturer’s instructions.

When finished, switch off and unplug an electric warmer. Allow the wax and dish to cool completely. Once cool, wipe the soft wax out with a paper towel and dispose of it in the trash.

Do not add water, light the wax directly, heat the pouch, or pour wax down a drain. Keep away from children and pets. Do not ingest or apply to skin. Never touch hot wax, move a hot warmer, or leave it unattended while operating.
